These terms and conditions set out the basis on which you may browse and use our website at www.seashells.net.au (the website). Please read the terms carefully before you use our website or purchase products. By browsing or using this website you are agreeing to be legally bound by the terms & conditions, our privacy policy, and our cookie policy.

 

PRICING & DISCOUNTS

Pricing 
All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD), not incl. GST. 
GST (Australian Goods & Services Tax 10%) is applicable to all Australian domestic orders sent to destinations in Australia. Please contact our sales team if you have questions regarding the GST amount.
All International orders are manually evaluated for tax-free delivery cost to ensure we are offering the best possible (most economical) shipping option for your destination.

 

Minimum Order
There is a minimum ordering amount of Australian Dollars (AUD) $ 30.00 (incl. GST, not incl. shipping cost) - per order.

 

Discounts & Wholesale
Most items listed in the Decoshells section (Seashells, Starfish, etc. for Decoration) will show discount pricing for multiple item ordering. While Australian Seashells does not distinguish between general public and retailer customers, we will offer additional bulk discounts for large orders based on the total order volume. Consider placing a larger order instead of several smaller ones to get a bulk discount and to lower delivery cost per item at the same time. The Australian Seashells sales team will grant applicable discounts as follows:


DECOSHELLS
Most items in this category already offer discounted multiple item ordering, but we can offer additional discounts for large orders. Ordering in bulk will also help to lower your delivery cost per item.
   - 5% discount for orders over AUD 300.00 and above in value.
   - 10% discount for orders over AUD 500.00 and above in value.

We will include numerous free gifts and samples (which further help to offset postage cost). Applicable discounts largely depend on the conditions and prices we have to pay when buying our stock (many different sources). If you are purchasing for a shop / business, we will generally grant you free items for each order.

 

SPECIMEN SEASHELLS

-        5% for Specimen Seashells orders of AUD 1000.00 (not incl. GST) and above in value.

-        10% for Specimen Seashells orders of AUD 2000.00 (not incl. GST) and above in value.

There are also substantial discounts available for selected species that apply also for small orders. Please find them described as "wholesale offer" in our pricelists. We may grant additional discounts if you purchase 10 (or more) of any listed item. We will generally grant free gifts with each order, which will add up to another considerable discount. The number of gifts usually increases over time as we continue our business relationship with you.

BOOKS
Seashell reference books are produced in low (expensive!) print runs, at extremely low profit margins for publishers and distributors alike (if any). Small discounts available for booksellers apply to orders of at least 2 copies per title. Please contact us for more information.

Ordering Terms & Conditions
I confirm that I am at least 18 years old and am ordering the correct item, quantity, type (i.e. grading / locality) and price as listed per item in my enquiry, and am requesting Australian Seashells to complete payment for these items on my behalf.

I understand that Australian Seashells does not offer an extended cooling-off period for the items in the order and that this purchase is deemed a firm sale by the end of the same business day the order was placed (or the following business day until 12 PM Perth, WA time), if the order was placed after close of business of the preceding business day.

I can contact the Australian Seashells head office by phone on 08 9409 9807 Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (local Perth, WA time) or 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM (AEST). I understand that once my order has been shipped, my options to return items to Australian Seashells are limited as outlined in the Returns Policy.

 
How to Order

We prefer manual ordering as outlined below instead of a shopping basket. This approach works better than eCommerce for natural objects like seashells, which are by definition not mass products. You can ask questions during ordering and we can help you find exactly what you need.

 

BY EMAIL: To order from Australian Seashells via email to sales@seashells.net.au (preferred option) please select any of the items we list online (you can mix & match items from all pages).

 

- Copy desired item title, add QTY and ordering options (i.e. size, colour, bulk option - if applicable) into an email message window.

- Check & review your order. Any deadline? Let us know if your order is urgent!

- Once finished shopping, enter your shipping information. We need:

 

1) Your first and last name

2) Your mailing address (PO Box is ok), incl. postcode

3) Your contact phone nr.

 

If all details are correct, send your email message.

 

Once we have received your request, we will reply ASAP with an offer incl. all shipping and payment options (usually within 24hrs). NOTE: You have 1 week to respond to the information we send to you regarding your order enquiry. If you respond after this time, your request may expire and you may have to place a new order.

 

If your order contains items that require stock-checking or you entered an International delivery address, we will manually check for availability and shipping options, then contact you via e-mail ASAP to confirm details.

 

In any case we will not complete your order or process your payment before you confirm and approve the offer.

Contact & Communication

Australian Seashells is an online shop, so our primary means of communication with our customers is via email (i.e. we will reply to the email address you use to contact us).

 

Australian Seashells will not be held responsible for any missed communication due to your email address being incorrect. If you have more than one email address, please advise which email address you would like us to use to contact you.
We encourage all customers to contact us via email.

Brief Cooling Off Period
After you place your order, please take a moment to review the details. 
If you notice a mistake or problem with your order, you can still cancel your order for a full refund, if you do this within the brief cooling off period. 
Please call our head office ASAP on the same business day as you placed your order (or the following business day until 12 PM Perth, WA time, if your order was placed after close of business of the preceding business day: (area code 08) 9409 9807 Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (local Perth, WA time) or 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM (AEST). After this time, your cooling off period ends, your purchase will be regarded as a firm sale and will be shipped to you.

Once your order has been shipped, we may still be able to offer you online shop credit if you return your goods to us following the guidelines in our Cancellations & Returns Section, but this will not include return postage cost.
 
Order Changes
Australian Seashells allows you to amend or add additional items to your order on the same business day you are placing your order (or the following business day until 12 PM Perth, WA time, if your order was placed after close of business of the preceding business day). After this point in time we are unable to combine shipping cost on your order and will have to treat subsequent requests as a new order.

 

Online Shop Credit
If you cancel an order or return an item, you may be eligible for online shop credit, which is valid for 12 months from date of issue. Please refer to our Returns & Cancellations section for more details for online shop credit eligibility, terms and conditions.
 
‘Money Back Guarantee’ for Specimen Seashells
Australian Seashells is not required to offer a credit or refund if a customer simply changes their mind, or has found another item elsewhere, according to Australian law (Trade Practices Acts). However, we acknowledge that Specimen Seashells are by definition highly individual objects and there is still no better way to evaluate a Specimen Shell than holding it in your hand and looking at it. We are offering you a ‘Money Back Guarantee' for all our Specimen Seashell items, which means that you can return any of them for a refund (or online shop credit if you prefer this) to the full value of the item(s) returned, excluding shipping cost. In short, if you do not like the shells we have selected for any reason, you can send them back for a full refund or exchange if you wish.. 
See the Returns & Cancellations section for info on how to pack shells for returning to us and note that this Money Back Guarantee only covers Specimen Seashells items - all other items or products we offer for sale in our online shop are covered in our Returns & Cancellations section.
 
Item Availability & Stock Checking
We list over seven thousand specimen shell categories online - and have well over one million individual specimen seashells in stock. Still, some items listed on our website may be out of stock temporarily. If we expect more stock shortly, we may not remove the item from our listing or even temporarily tag it as ‘Out Of Stock’.

If your order contains an unavailable item, we will notify you. We will not continue to process your order until we have consulted with you via email re. availability and ordering options. You may wish to amend your order, so we will send you an update and ask you how you would like to proceed.

 

SHIPPING

We ship worldwide. Check if Australia Post ships to you - if they do, we will too! All our product prices include handling/packaging. Although fragile shells may need double-boxing, etc. we will not charge additional handling fees. We will commence assembly and packaging of your order once we receive payment.

 

DOMESTIC SHIPPING

Before we ship your order, a pro forma invoice will be posted, faxed or e-mailed to you with a detailed invoice incl. shipping quote to your destination.

 

STANDARD Delivery / Tracking

We will automatically quote and ship your order by the most economical shipping option, based on parcel weight. Our default option is Standard Australia Post eParcel service (trackable, delivery against signature) charged at flat rates (max. 15kg per parcel). The eParcel system sends automatic tracking updates to your email address as soon as the parcel is lodged, delivery time is quoted at max. 5 business days to Australian destinations:

EXPRESS Delivery / Tracking
If your order is urgent, please request Australia Post EXPRESS eParcel shipping, which will be charged at flat rates, based on parcel weight (max. 5kg per parcel). It's a fully trackable service offering automatic delivery updates to your email address as soon as your parcel is lodged, with delivery against signature quoted within max. 3 business days to Australian destinations.

 

We can pack multiple parcels for larger orders (i.e. over 15kg) that can be shipped together in one consignment, no problem!

 

Combined Shipping Cost

We automatically consolidate shipping cost on all items in your order. This means that if your order contains items that require stock-checking (i. e. Specimen Seashells), your order may briefly be on hold / delayed until we have confirmed availability.

 

XL Shipping

If your order exceeds total weight of 35kg packaged, we may contact you prior to shipping your order to discuss a more economical delivery via TNT Road Express or SENDLE  instead. Please note TNT and SENDLE require a physical street address for delivery (no PO Boxes!).

 

Domestic Delivery Times
Australia Post generally advises Standard domestic delivery Australia-wide (all Australian mainland destinations) of 5 business days (1 week), EXPRESS Post max. 3 days Australia-wide. Deliveries within the Perth Metro area may be faster. For comprehensive domestic delivery estimates, please visit the Australia Post website.

 

Delivery Instructions
Our default Australia Post delivery option is against signature only. If you prefer a different option or have a prior arrangement with your local Australia Post office, your parcel may be left for you in a safe place near your front door if you are not at home during delivery. If a signature is required and you miss the delivery, your parcel will be held at your local PO and a notification card with pickup instructions will be left in your letterbox. Please advise if you need to specify a delivery instruction for your shipment.
 

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

We ship worldwide. All International orders are evaluated with care for each shipment to ensure we are quoting the best possible (most economical) and preferably trackable shipping option for your destination.

 

STANDARD AirMail Delivery / Tracking

We will quote International shipping via Standard Australia Post AirMail (Standard AirMail) by default. This service is trackable via www.auspost.com.au and delivery to most destinations worldwide is estimated at 6-10 business days.

 

EXPRESS AirMail Delivery / Tracking

Please request Australia Post AirExpress shipping (Standard AirMail) if you would like faster delivery against signature, featuring automatic delivery updates. All parcels are also manually trackable via www.auspost.com.au and delivery to most destinations worldwide is estimated at 4-5 business days.

 

International Delivery Times
Australia Post generally advises delivery to most destinations in Asia as 4-5 business days, USA and Western Europe as 6-10 business days via Standard AirMail (pending customs and security screening on arrival). For more detailed and comprehensive Intl. delivery times, please visit the Australia Post website.

IMPORTANT International Customs / Duty Notice:
Australian Seashells will export tax-free goods when shipping your order from Australia. Please be aware that tax / duty may apply for importing goods to your destination on arrival in your country. Please check applicable duty rates at your local customs office.

 

International Courier Shipping
We can ship via your own preferred courier (TNT / EMS / DHL). Please advise details when placing your order if you would like to use your own courier account for shipping.
 
Courier Delivery Times: 
Most worldwide Courier deliveries will take 4-5 business days from date of lodgement, pending fast-tracking of customs / quarantine inspection. NOTE: Courier delivery services require a physical street address for delivery (no PO Boxes).

 

International Shipping - Issues
- All orders with destinations in ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, CHILE, ISRAEL, ITALY, PHILIPPINES, RUSSIA and SPAIN may be problematic / require special consideration. Our sales team will contact you via email to discuss the best delivery options and timeframes for trackable Australia Post AirMail services: AirExpress Intl, EMS Australia Post courier service or Pack & Track eParcel AirMail (based on parcel weight / destination) for better handling and faster delivery against signature only.

 

GENERAL SHIPPING ISSUES

 

Incorrect Address or Delivery Details
Address changes and/or corrections will only affect future orders placed after the changes and/or corrections are made. Any changes and/or corrections for current orders must be completed by contacting the Australian Seashells sales team before your order is being shipped.

Customers who provide addresses that Australia Post have deemed as incorrect and/or have insufficient details to ensure delivery may result in the following:
-        Delivery Delays
-        Lost / Missing Parcels
-        Parcel Returned to Australian Seashells
 
If Australian Seashells was responsible for incorrectly addressing a package, then we will be responsible for the resending, replacement or refund of the items not delivered or delayed.
Any package returned to Australian Seashells due to incorrect and/or insufficient information supplied by the customer will have to be re-sent and will incur an extra delivery charge of the original postage cost. Australian Seashells will contact you via email to discuss your delivery options and confirm address details prior to re-sending your order.

 

If a package is returned to Australian Seashells due to the above incorrect and/or insufficient delivery issues and incurs damage to the item(s), Australian Seashells will not be responsible for replacing the goods, but will make every effort to add extra protection to resend the package once the extra delivery fee payments have been made. We will contact you prior to resending your parcel to discuss your options.

Any shipment that is delayed or lost and is found to have had incorrect and/or insufficient details provided by the customer is not eligible for a refund or online store credit from Australian Seashells.
If the package has the correct delivery information and is deemed 'lost' by Australia Post after an Australia Post investigation, Australian Seashells will liaise with Australia Post on your behalf and offer to replace the items or issue online shop credit only if you have completed the minimum steps as outlined in our Missing / Lost Parcel section (i.e. in case of a missed delivery attempt).

 

Tracking Parcels

Australia Post eParcel automatically starts sending tracking updates to your email address as soon as your parcel has been lodged. If your shipping address is correct and you have not received your parcel or a notification card within the appropriate time frame (i.e. 1 week for Domestic, 2 weeks for Intl. delivery), please check your email / SPAM filter for Australia Post delivery updates. If you have not received Australia Post or courier tracking details, please notify us, so we can follow up delivery progress on your behalf.

 

Missing / Lost Parcel
If your parcel has not arrived or tracking info is inconclusive, you must contact Australian Seashells within 3 (three) weeks of receiving the automated 'parcel shipped' delivery update, so we can follow up the shipment and offer you replacement, online shop credit or a refund if your order has gone astray. 


Australian Seashells will liaise with Australia Post on your behalf if your parcel goes astray. However, we will replace items or issue online shop credit only after you have completed the following steps:

- Check with your local Post Office for arrival of the parcel within 3 weeks of the parcel shipping date, using the trackable consignment ID provided. In case you missed delivery and did not receive or overlooked the notification card placed in your letterbox, please check with local PO staff. Please note that local post offices will generally only keep parcels for 2 weeks before returning them to us.

- Contact the Australian Seashells sales team via e-mail or phone with the information you obtained from your local PO staff within four (4) weeks of the parcel shipping date.

Mail Redirections 
Customers please note that Australia Post Redirections may not work with some parcels. Australian Seashells will not be responsible for replacing goods or extra costs if a mail redirection with your local Post Office has not been successful. Please update your account details and contact our sales team to ensure that any current order has your updated address details.

 

RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
 
Cancellations
Please check all details incl. proposed delivery times and ensure you wish to purchase the item(s) in your order before you complete your purchase and proceed with the payment. 
Please discuss your requirements with our sales team before cancelling, as we may be able to fast track your order (i.e. if you are ordering for a particular event).

To cancel an order made by mistake, or to upgrade your shipping to Express delivery, we can offer you a short cooling off period. Please call our head office ASAP on the same business day as you placed your order (or the following business day until 12 PM WA time, if your order was placed after close of business of the preceding business day), on 08 – 9409 9807 Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (local Perth, WA time) or 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM (AEST). Otherwise your purchase will be regarded as a firm sale and will be shipped to you.
We do not offer an extended cooling off period or to cover shipping cost for returned items once your order has been shipped.
 
Returns Policy
We understand that at some point you may need to return an item to us. As we ship all items via trackable delivery, every order has a recorded delivery date. 
Before sending any items(s) back to us, please contact our sales team to discuss your reason for the return and to organise approval for returning item(s) to Australian Seashells.

IMPORTANT: Please check the item(s) you received carefully as soon as they arrive and understand the following return policy terms:
-      While you can return item(s) to Australian Seashells if you have made a mistake in ordering or changed your mind, we require notification within 1 business day of the recorded delivery date to organise online shop credit for you. Australian Seashells will not refund postage or pay for any return postage cost. 
 
-     If you received a faulty or damaged item, we require notification within 2 business days of the recorded delivery date.
If the item you received is wrong (not what you ordered), we require notification within 5 business days of the recorded delivery date. We may ask you to send us photographic evidence, but we will also do our best to ensure you receive your ordered items ASAP and will send you instructions for Australia Post eParcel return shipping.
 
-        Australian Seashells does not offer online shop credit for products that are returned damaged to our office or never arrive. The return address for all orders is: Australian Seashells Head Office, 5 Ealing Mews, Kingsley, WA 6026, Ph: +61-8-9409 9807. To qualify for credit, an item must be returned good order, ready to be re-sold. Failure to package a returning item properly will invariably result in no online shop credit and the item(s) will be returned to the customer.
 
-        Any online shop credit issued for a return will be for the value of the returned item only. All online shop credit will be valid for 1 year from date of issue. Online shop credit for any item does not cover the cost of postage.
  
How to Return an Item
Before returning any items please contact the Australian Seashells sales team to discuss your reason for requesting a return and to organise approval. Please also refer to our Returns Policy.

If you are returning an item for online shop credit, please package the item with sufficient packaging and protection (i.e. bubble-wrap and cardboard) to ensure that contents do not slide around inside the outer packaging (i.e. cardboard box) to cause damage (or any further damage) to the returned item, especially and in particular if a damaged item is the reason for the return. Please keep your original Australian Seashells packaging until you have made contact with our head office or sales team. We encourage you to re-use the packaging that we have used to send your goods. If you feel that the packaging cannot be reused for whatever reason you will need to provide your own secure and sturdy packaging.
All items being returned must include a copy of the supplied invoice we issued to you and should specify the reason for the return.
 

PRIVACY POLICY

This policy covers Australian Seashells PTY Ltd, ABN 35066393646, its online and retail business.

Australian Seashells respects your privacy and is committed to keeping your personal information safe. As online shop, we will obtain certain customer information such as names, mailing addresses, contact phone numbers, email addresses and product related interests.

This information is used to facilitate ordering, shipping and transactions and may be used for our own marketing purposes.

We acknowledge that when you provide your personal information, you do so trusting Australian Seashells to only collect and use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Australian Seashells will never disclose any customer information to any third party without your consent.

Other than stated in this Privacy Policy, Australian Seashells Pty Ltd will not collect or use your personal information without your consent.  
Log files are stored on the web server saving details when you: 

- view or browse Australian Seashells products and/or services;
- interact with us through social media (including Facebook and Pinterest);
- register on the Australian Seashells website or mailing list;
- contact us; we may also keep a record of that contact;
Details may include the visitor's IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit (i.e. via Google Analytics).

 

Personal Information Use and Access
We will only collect additional personal information with your consent. Any visitor information collected by the site is used to evaluate and improve website performance. If at any time you wish to view, change or update any personal information we may have on file for you, please contact our head office via e-mail or phone for assistance.

To delete the information Australian Seashells Pty Ltd has about you, please request this when your contact us and we will take all reasonable steps to delete such information unless it must be kept for legal reasons.

NOTE: No personal details of any kind will be sold, rented or leased to 3rd parties.

 

Updates & Email
When you complete a purchase with Australian Seashells, you can choose options how to communicate with us.

Australian Seashells may contact you via email:
-        with updated information about the Australian Seashells website.
-        with information about our products and services, as well as upcoming events or discount promotions - if you requested or subscribed to a service.

We will not email anyone unless they request this specifically. If you believe you have received unsolicited email from us, please contact us immediately!

 

Mailing List

If you have subscribed to the Australian Seashells mailing list (via MailChimp), you may unsubscribe by following the instructions which are included in the emails you receive. Australian Seashells does not send unsolicited emails. Our email newsletter or any other notifications are sent only to customers or visitors who subscribe to mailing list options.

NOTE: The mailing list will be suspended during the current website update. Previous subscribers may have to sign up again once the mailing list is relaunched.
  
Cookies
Cookies are small digital signature files that are stored by your web browser. They allow your preferences to be recorded when visiting the website and track your return visits. We employ Google Analytics to keep track of overall visitor numbers and to help pinpoint potential linkage problems, but we do not send or exchange additional browser cookies. All current Australian Seashells website content is located at seashells.net.au and hosted by Australian Standard compliant host provider iinet. Other domain portals we may employ will duplicate the same content and / or link directly to our website. We endeavour to meet the highest global standards in security while acquiring, transmitting and using customer details. No SSL certificate required, as our site does not handle or allow customer data entry.

Australian Seashells will not otherwise disclose your personal information to other companies or third parties without your explicit consent.

 

Storage of Personal Information
All payment information you provide is only handled by our trusted staff and NAB Transact Direct. We do not keep payment details on file by default.

Access to any other stored customer information (i.e. address information) is restricted to Australian Seashells Pty Ltd employees with specific authorization.

Australian Seashells will endeavour to improve security safeguards to keep your personal information as safe as possible, meeting the highest standards in online security. 
Australian Seashells will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information, but will do everything in its power to prevent this as a responsible Australian online retailer.
 
Policy Updates
If Australian Seashells becomes aware of any ongoing concerns or problems with the company website or its email handling, we will address these concerns promptly. If you have any problems or queries relating to security issues or you have a problem or complaint, please contact the Australian Seashells head office via phone or email.

Australian Seashells Pty Ltd will continue to expand and improve its online shop presence and reserves the right to change its Privacy Policy at any time and notify you by posting an updated version of the policy on the Australian Seashells website. The amended Privacy Policy will apply whether or not we have provided you specific notice of any changes or updates.
